If you’re expecting to see soft pastel colors for Spring this year, you might be a little disappointed – which doesn’t mean you can’t add whatever color you love into your own home, right?! :). But interior designers and trend setters alike are still betting on earthy tones and muted hues for decor and deep colors for cabinetry and furniture. Navy blue is coming back with full strength and medium-dark wood is making its comeback, but light White Oak with a clear finish or greywash is still in demand.
Here are my Top 5 picks for home decor and interior trends that will make their way through the entire season, if not the entire year!
Raw wood with clear matte or grey stain color is still very trendy and you can see these finishes above; clear stain color on the White Oak hardwood flooring and Greywash finish on the custom sideboard. But expect to see more wooden cabinetry from now on. Designers are mixing painted cabinets with raw wood cabinets in kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms because the warmth of a wooden cabinet not only brings interest to a space but it also helps add balance to it. Yes, we are finally saying goodbye to all-white spaces and hello to warm tones!

There was a time where we all felt guilty – or should I say, a little tacky – for having any type of faux plants at home. I remember quite well when I had to give away my real and beautiful plants because I had small children at home and no longer could have them in my living room. But here we are, in 2020, filling our spaces with a hint of green without any fear or guilt! Faux or not, I think we all agree that they always make any space feel more complete and happier! 🙂

If you ever dreamed of having a canopy bed but never really liked how big and bulky many of the traditional versions looked, this is the right time to finally make your wish come true! Canopy beds are really popular right now simply because they were reinvented and, in today’s market, you can easily find a canopy bed for almost every taste and budget.
The bedroom above was designed with a high-end furniture line Canopy bed, which is beautifully complemented with a textured ivory rug and wall paneling.

I was just writing on my last “Beautiful Homes of Instagram“ post about how popular the combination of Navy Blue cabinets with Walnut accents are right now. Navy blue cabinets are classic and this color is, without any doubt, the color of the year, especially when it comes cabinets. So dare to try it on your kitchen, bathroom or if you don’t want to commit it to a large space, try to use it in smaller rooms such as powder room, laundry room or mudroom. Honestly speaking, I could never get tired of this gorgeous color!

Do not feel left out if deep colors such as navy blue aren’t really your vibe. Organic and earthy materials such as raw wood, rattan and wicker furniture are still very popular. Muted hues with a beachy or Danish feel are incredibly trendy and I believe will continue to be for years to come. In fact, I feel that people are getting tired of homes that are too cluttered and less is – thank goodness – more! This “earthy and organic trend” is actually a helpful one. I feel that we need to live in real homes where we feel good. A home with natural elements tends to make us feel more relaxed and connected to our own environment. As you can see in the photo above, this dining room is beautiful but also practical. The cushions on the dining chairs feature an outdoor fabric and they’re washable. Rugs are great, but do we really need them under our table? Not if you have messy guests (aka kids :)).
When shopping for your home, try to forget the piles of clutter we see everywhere and focus on what makes you feel good. Design a home where you have the pleasure to live in. That, my friends, is a “trend” that never goes out of style.
