So you have brought home a video projector system and are clueless about how to install it, where to place it and how to use it. Well, don’t fret as you are not alone. Most people buy home cinema projector with a lot of enthusiasm and expectations but the minute they bring it home, they realize that they don’t know what to do with it. Installing a home theater system or projector set can be confusing for anyone, especially if you haven’t ever done it before. This is why I have come up with a few tips and suggestions for you to install the system correctly.
Screen Location
The first step or tip to install a projector system is to determine the location. There is always that one wall in every home for which a big screen is ideal and where one can watch movies, videos etc. by placing chairs or sofas. So figure out which room has that wall in your room but do keep in mind that the location must not get direct sunlight as it can make the image on the screen washed out. Also, you must figure out what the ideal height could be of the screen. The recommended height for the bottom of the screen is generally 24 inches to 36 inches off the floor.
Projector Location
The next step is to determine the location of the projector. Some things you need to keep in mind while determining this are vertical offset, throw distance and lens shift etc. You need to make sure that the right size of the images or video are falling on the screen from where you have placed the projector. Also, you must place the projector in such a way that it is at the right height from the ceiling as well.
Mounting Projector to Ceiling
There are many types of mounts available in the market but you need to select the one which is easiest to use and install. Sometimes cheap mounts could give you a lot of trouble but a good mount is one which is likely to hold the projector in the right position as you leave it.Projector mounts are split into 2 major parts –projector plate and ceiling plate. The projector plate has to be attached to the top of the projector first and then the ceiling plate has to be attached.
Mounting Screen on Wall
Every screen is mounted on the wall differently but more or less, the same steps are to be followed to install or mount the screen. It is important to first assemble the frame, and then mount the frame temporarily on the wall to check whether it is in the right place and position. Now take down the frame and then attach the actual screen to the frame. Now remount the frame and double check whether the position is right. When you are finished mounting and aligning the screen the projector, you will be done and the projector would be installed.
