Let’s face it, no matter how much time and effort we put into decorating our homes, there are always going to be some areas that look less than perfect. In fact, between tangled cords, dog dishes, trash cans, and breaker boxes, there are actually many eyesores in the modern home.
The good news is that there are things you can do to cover up these eyesores. And you can do these things without spending an arm and a leg. So, what should you do?
Read on to learn the top five tips for hiding household eyesores.
Of course, the best way to hide a household eyesore is to get rid of it.
For example, if you have a mould stain on your wall, you could call service for mould removal to get rid of it.
But this isn’t always a possibility. Luckily, there is a super easy way to hide unsightly stains, scratches, and smudges: cover it up. With just a few swift movements of your furniture, a once unsightly wall is no longer a problem.
Plus, moving furniture around every once in a while is good for the mind, as we could all go for a little change.
No matter how much money you spent on your trash can, let’s face it: trash cans are never pretty.
While many people choose to hide their trash can by placing it in the cabinet under the sink, this isn’t an option for everybody.
If your trash can is too large to be placed under the sink, you can hide it by creating a trash cabinet. Basically, all you have to do is buy a larger old cabinet, paint it, and then change the hinges and add some changes so it can open up from the top.
30 years ago, no one worried about constantly tripping over cords in their home. Nowadays, it seems like every household has about a thousand cords.
From cell phones to cameras to tablets, we have a lot of devices that we need to plug in these days. Finding the space to plug in all of these devices can be difficult – and not to mention unsightly.
To take care of this household eyesore, you can simply add a charging port to the inside of a drawer. All you have to do is drill small holes into the back of a desk or kitchen drawer, and voila! You’ve ingeniously created a space that’s out of sight to store all of your electronics while they’re charging.
This tip certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you can pull it off, it’s well worth the reward.
There are plenty of online tutorials on how to do this. But basically, you turn your stairs into drawers in order to create more space in your home.
If you feel like you’re constantly coming across stray shoes, umbrellas, coats, and blankets, then this is the DIY project for you that will eliminate all kinds of eyesores in your home.
Having a cat is great. But figuring out where to put their litter box is not.
If you’re lost on where to put this unsightly container, consider adding a small curtain across the front of a nightstand or a skirt that goes around it.
Not only will this hide the litter box, but it will also give anxious cats a bit more privacy.
With these 5 tips, those household eyesores will be out of sight and out of mind!
